Melissa Walker, LCSW-R, is a New York City psychotherapist with offices in the Union Square area of Manhattan and in Park Slope, Brooklyn. 

After completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Melissa earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. While there, she completed graduate training at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, an inpatient research hospital affiliated with Columbia University and New York Presbyterian Hospital. Prior to entering private practice, Melissa worked in a range of settings including programs for emotionally troubled teens, inpatient psychiatric units, and community-based mental health clinics.  

Melissa has completed several years of post-graduate training in psychodynamic therapy and psychoanalysis at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center. Her background has also included training in cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, family and couples’ therapy, and trauma work. Melissa’s approach is informed by all of these, as well as by her own practice of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation.
