Melissa Walker, LCSW-R, is a psychotherapist in New York City, with offices in the Union Square area of Manhattan and in Park Slope, Brooklyn. 

Melissa earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. While there, she completed her graduate internship at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, an inpatient research hospital affiliated with Columbia University Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital. Currently, she is pursuing additional post-graduate training in psychoanalysis at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center, and in modern analytic group therapy at the Center for Group Studies, both located in New York City.

Prior to entering private practice, Melissa worked in a range of settings, including a day program for emotionally troubled teens, inpatient psychiatric units, and community-based outpatient mental health clinics.

Melissa’s background also includes training in cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, family and couples’ therapy, and trauma work. Her approach is informed by all of these, as well as by her practice of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation.
