Group Therapy

Groups offer something that can be hard to find elsewhere: a place where people speak honestly with one another. Over time, members come to know and understand one another deeply. Gradually, they take that understanding and empathy in, and find more of both for themselves.

Process Groups

Process groups can be especially useful for people who have developed some understanding of their relational patterns but find them hard to recognize as they’re playing out in the moment. In these Modern Analytic groups, the relationships among members are the focus of the work. Members are encouraged to put their thoughts and feelings about one another into words, including the ones that usually go unspoken. In time, the patterns that shape each member’s relationships outside the group tend to appear within it, where they can be noticed and talked about as they happen.

Process groups meet weekly, in person, at my office in Greenwich Village.

Focused Therapy Groups

From time to time, I may also offer therapy and support groups for people navigating a particular experience, such as divorce, grief, or adoption reunion.
